FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

I'm sure that you have a lot. Here are our comments as agents and users of TracPlus:

Is TracPlus easy to use?

  • Sure is! Our miniature NAL transmitters have only two switches. The left side is on/off and the right side switch is for the distress or test signal.

What external power does it use?

  • The external power lead plugs into the same socket as a car cigarette lighter.  A charging unit for 240V power can also be supplied.

What are the wires on the end?

  • The NAL-LP transmitter has its own battery pack and aerial mounted on top of the base unit just like a sandwich.  The wires connect the battery and aerial to the transmitter.

Can it be damaged easily?

  • The NAL-LP is a very sturdy unit that is designed to military specs.  However, you will have to take care of it.

Where do I mount it?

  • The unit must have a clear path to the sky.  On top of the dashboard or instrument panel is usually ideal.  It will transmit through glass, perspex or fibreglass but it will NOT transmit through metal or carbon fibre.  Some models can be externally mounted.  Please talk to us about how you will use it and we will advise you.

Who can see my signal?

  • Our operations room monitors the units 24/7.  We will authorise whoever you want to see your location.  This could be on our public website that anyone could see it if you wish or alternatively only authorised persons.  If you log into your administration area, you can add or delete anyone that you wish to see the information.

How often will it transmit a signal?

  • That depends on you.  When you take delivery of the unit we will discuss this with you and set it up to suit your requirements.  The transmitter will send a signal until it receives an acknowledgement from the satellite.

How long does the internal battery last?

  • The NAL-LP battery will usually last at least 8 hours or more depending on the number of transmissions it is set to.

How much is it to run?

  • This depends on how much you use it.  About the same as a mobile phone.  We can quote you in detail when you advise us how you want to use it and the frequency of use.

What is the purchase price?

  • That depends on what type of transmitter you want.  At the present time the fluctuations of the $US vs $AU  makes it hard to give a fixed price.  We will quote you a fixed price once we determine your use pattern, the type of transmitter that suits you and when you want it.

What if I am not satisfied about how the system works?

  • We will strive to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the TracPlus system.  However if all else fails we will give you a complete refund on your hardware if returned within 30 days.

So what is your guarantee?

  • Your system is guaranteed for 12 months from purchase, subject to these conditions
